    Default Booting problem

    Problem

Windows has over writtent the Master Boot Record of the linux the how to recover it by using the installatoin CD.

    Solutions

    1) First insert your Windows Installation CD and restart you computer. Maybe you have to change you Bios so that the Hard Drive is after the CD drive in the boot order.

    2) Once the computer is restarted, you will get to the Windows installation screen. Here is where you have to go into the Recovery Console. If I remember right I had to to press 'R' to get there.

    3) You will get a window that looks like a cmd prompt and it will ask you which windows installation you want to repair. There will also be a list of installations and you will have to type the number of the installation to be repaired. Hit enter.

    4) It will ask you for you administrative password; if you don't have on leave that empty and hit enter.
On the next line type "fixmbr" and that should do it.

    5) Restart and you should be able to boot back into windows.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks for the information. Really helpful to have it explained and laid out this way.
