no i think links with signatures are really helpful in generating traffic and backlink only thing is that you have to make sure that you have to participate in forums regularly to ensure maximum visibility of your signature....

participating in the forums would be informative, if you make it feel like Spam posts it would make a inverse reaction for your reputation.

Tbh, i can consider it driving traffic and backlink, but i am not sure if i can digest the fact of increase in PR. Don't forget it's just an Google Algo to rank websites

What does Tbh mean? and if you can consider it as a traffic driving & backlink factor, why is it hard for you to get that it can increase PR. though we dont know the prefect algo of google but we can guess slightly. Well what PR4 link is worth, or a PR5 link is worth compared to a PR3 link, for example, so to try and make this easy to understand,

PR2 = 0.2 of a PR3
PR3 = 1 of a PR3
PR4 = 5 x PR3
PR5 = 25 xPR3
PR6 =125 xPR3
PR7 =625 xPR3

so if you link back to high pr forums i think it does affect your PR try thinkin about it.
