    Default Windows Server Hosting

A Windows VPS server or Windows dedicated server will provide you with a dedicated Windows web hosting environment capable of supporting the standard features that you would expect from a Windows web hosting service, as well as the additional benefits that come with using dedicated web hosting. When choosing a Windows server you will want [...]

    Default Windows VPS

From what I am reading VPS hosting is cheaper than dedicated hosting. Still I do not like making my choice by price alone. What else should be considered?

    Default Capacity of ram

I think something you will want to keep your eyes open for is capacity of ram. If you only have one web site and it is small then you might not need much. If you have more then one then you want at least 1GB.

A VPS is a Virtual Private Server which is offered with similar features of a dedicated server, however, you will get less resources with a VPS in comparison to a dedicated server as a number of VPSs are setup on a single dedicated server and the resources of the dedicated server are shared by all the VPSs. Even though the resources are shared, every VPS uses it's own disk space, RAM, IP address and it can also be rebooted independently and hence it acts like a separate dedicated server.

If you choose a dedicated server, the entire hardware and all the resources of the server will be dedicated to you only. The resources won't be shared with any other user and you will get administrator access to the server due to which you can install the applications you need.

If you are looking forward to host many sites on the server with some resource intensive applications, you can choose a dedicated server, otherwise, you can start off with a VPS and then upgrade to a dedicated server when the need arises.

RAM is indeed important and one should check the RAM allocation before choosing a server, however, it's not necessary that more than 1 GB RAM is required if multiple sites are hosted on the server. If you are hosting small sites which do not have much traffic and there are no resource intensive applications installed on the VPS, multiple sites can be hosted on the server even if it has less than 1 GB RAM.

Oh right, I had been taught to follow that as a rule of thumb. Of course what you say makes total sense. Still there is something so nice about the number 1 GB Ram. Haha, still if you don't really need it, could be a waste. I suppose you must consider what you need for your own personal situation to make the choice.

    Default Nice, info

I was rather under the same impression about RAM. For me RAM is not about some pretty number. I do not need more than I need, no matter what the reason is. I do like to be as efficient as possible.

I dont think 1 GB of RAM is sufficient , even the Desktop computer used at home, comes with 2 GB+ RAM, and the thing that you are talking about is a server.
The higher the RAM, the better the performance and efficiency of server.

RAM in computer is used for storing the things that are frequently accessed from hardisk, then be it any thing i.e system files, program / application files, or data.
While execution these inputs are either directly inputted by user or fetched form hardisk.
If frequently required inputs are stored near CPU, then it inturn reduces the time required for fetching the data from hardisk , resulting a Faster execution time

Hence a maximum amount of RAM is recommend
    Regard's

A dedicated hosting service, dedicated server, or managed hosting service is a type of Internet hosting in which the client leases an entire server not shared with anyone. This is more flexible than shared hosting, as organizations have full control over the server(s), including choice of operating system, hardware, etc. Server administration can usually be provided by the hosting company as an add-on service. In some cases a dedicated server can offer less overhead and a larger return on investment. Dedicated servers are most often housed in data centers, similar to colocation facilities, providing redundant power sources and HVAC systems. In contrast to colocation, the server hardware is owned by the provider and in some cases they will provide support for your operating system or applications.
