Managed and Unmanaged ?
Difference between Managed and Unmanaged hosting?
-
Managed host offers support and service for nearly the whole hosting package. Managed server has the provision to install applications without having the knowlegde about how to install, for example, if you want to install WordPress, you can install it . Also, most managed solutions provide initial Server Setup, Routine server monitoring, Server Migration, Disaster recovery planning and procedures including system and file backup, Server backup restoration, Hardware failure recovery, Regular maintenance of the operating system, Firewall configuration.
Unmanged servers, typically only provide support for the hardware. They’ll replace failed components, reboot servers, maintain the network and keep the lights on, but won’t support any software. This increases the individual person responsibility to implement security, fix any issues that come along and generally maintain the entire server. Many hosts won’t even provide a control panel or even an actual Web server on unmanaged systems, instead requiring the owner to set up their own system.

Managed hosting means the hosting provider manages the servers for you. The hosting provider takes care of all the Technical issues which occur with the server. He also updates the OS patches, security patches and takes care of all the security issues of your server. If you have any issues with your server, you just need to contact your hosting provider and his support staff will take care of the issue for you.
Whereas, in Unmanaged one you are the one who takes care of the server. So if there is any issue, you won't get any help from the hosting provider. This might result in downtime and you might loose your clients and suffer heavy losses. People prefer to choose a Managed hosting as compared to Unmanaged one, so that they can concentrate on their Business and let the hosting provider manage the server.
