Hi everyone. I want information about Overclocking. Can anybody share it here?
Hi everyone. I want information about Overclocking. Can anybody share it here?
Its term related to extracting extra performance from the computer and hardware components.
Each component produced by any manufacturer has its own capacity regarding its performance which is declared by that particular manufacturer after prior testing. When one applies effort for extracting more performance from that hardware component then it is called overclocking.
The Simple defination is to make the computer's processor run faster than its stock speed to gain more performance without paying for it.
Overclocking a computer's processor or memory causes it to go faster than its factory rated speed. A processor rated at 2.4GHz might be overclocked to 2.5GHz or 2.6GHz, while memory rated at 200MHz might be pushed to 220MHz or higher. The extra speed results in more work being done by the processor and/or memory in a given time period, increasing the overall computing performance of the PC.

Most of the times manufacturer do not specify the real capabilities of the hardware components made by it. When a user tries to extract this unspecified extra performance from that particular hardware component then it is called overclocking.
Hey, guys, thanks for such a great help but still I would like to raise one more question.
Why one would require to overclock a system? Hope all of you won't mind to answer this also.
Hey, Raj you don't need to feel embarrass until your question is not meaningless. We have very good contributors at our Host.co.in community who never hesitate to share their knowledge here. So far your question about overclocking's need, it is not performed by normal people but few hardware enthusiastic people always try to extract best possible results from the hardware they have purchased. They tends to use better resources from the hardware purchased at the regular prices.
