I had installed it few months ago but it badly reduces the performance and speed of firefox.

Yes, not sure but if any script makes it slow and it also appears under the each Google result making the Google results speed slow.

So better way to select the linked keywords or link itself and go for right click >> View Selection Source, by this you directly go to source code of that selected link and can easily checkout either the nofollow tag exists or not.

That's the one more reason why Mozilla Firefox is so popular among SEO geeks and why it is mine favorite also.
