    Default chkdsk for Windows 7?

    Hello

Recently I shifted to Windows 7 from old XP, when I used to work with XP I was using command 'chkdsk' for routine check up, but as I am on Windows 7 I don't know 'How can I run scandisk?' please help me if anybody know how to do it.

Yeah, I tried to run 'chkdsk' command but it just return a dos window for less than a second and nothing happens so I guess it's not a proper way to scan a disk in windows 7.

You are right Suresh, running chkdsk command is not a proper way in Windows 7, You need to do it as given below.

Click, Start >> Computer >> Highlight Os/C >> Right click >> Properties >> Tools >> Error Checking and Click on, Check now

This should start scanning your disk for errors.

Thanks Ajay, providing proper guidance to him but still I would suggest Suresh to scan system with other better antivirus or security solutions rather than depending on scandisk, as the Microsoft security essentials comes with Windows 7.

+ 1 to this, as anti-viruses are regularly updated unlike the scan disk tool. so they know better about the newly raised threats and errors on a computer, I would also prefer scanning a system through a well reputed security software.
