Website asking for User Name and Password

Hi Support Dept.

I have recently purchased a Windows VPS with Plesk control panel and have uploaded website files.

Few of my sites are requesting User Name and password when browsed with IE or Firefox. I have not set any authentication from my code or server/IIS.

Can you please provide some suggestions? Any bright Ideas?

Hi

The issue you have reported above frequently arises when Website is hosted on Windows Server with Plesk Control Panel. Website asks for authentication (user name and password) to view the content.

This issue is generally regarded as permissions issue but in fact it is to do with password synchronization with IIS.

To resolve the issue and synchronize the password, you will need to follow these steps:

• RDP to your server with Administrator credentials.
• Go to Command Prompt (Start >> Run >> cmd)
• Go to Folder Plesk\admin\bin (you can type cd %plesk_bin%)
• Type websrvmng.exe --update-anon-password --domain-name=yourdomainname.com

The above command will synchronize the password and the issue will be fixed.
