Nope, plesk control panel has an advantage that it is compatible with both Windows and Linux platforms and user can enjoy it on both platforms. Those who likes Cpanel as their favourite control panel has to opt for Linux only.

Plesk is supported on Linux as well Windows and hence you can choose Plesk with any of the hosting platforms. Moreover, if you choose Plesk, you'll have an option to choose Plesk control panel license based on the number of domains you wish to host which is yet another benefit

Isnt Plesk easier to deal with on Linux than on Windows? I swear I read a writeup about this not too long ago, I might need to hunt for the article but I think it was listed somewhere on WHT.

Although, when going for a Linux based server it is recommended to use cPanel/WHM. Plesk is good when opting for Windows.

Good is not great, I take it cPanel is prefered then? I have only used that myself but I have never had the chance to play much on a windows based server (no need, yet).

cPanel control panel is definitely a better choice if you are selecting a Linux based server. The compatibility of cPanel control panel with Linux operating system is truly amazing. On the other hand, if you choosing Windows, Plesk is definitely the best option to choose.

I can unreservedly recommend cPanel for a linux based server to you. Absolutely easy to learn and a very user friendly control panel.
